Beach huts in Norfolk on a quiet stretch of sand

5 reasons to savour September in Norfolk- Sailing, seals and autumn adventures await

As we knock on autumn's door, days may be shortening but Norfolk is shining. Weather is cool but still inviting and now is time to avoid the crowds, grab a deal AND secure the best parking. Hooray!

  1. Set sail September is when Norfolk may experience the biggest tides permitting some of the most stunning sunrise sailing expeditions from Wells to Blakeney. Take a trip aboard Selkie and explore the region's creeks and coastline with expert skipper Zoe. Enjoy tea and cake, spot some seals, and even do a bit of wild swimming.
  2. Head to the beach Love Wells but put off by the summer scrum? Crowds thin in September and tranquility awaits. Why not hire your own private beach hut equipped with everything one needs to make those beach days extra special. Explore the postcard-perfect coastal cabins with The Happy Huts managed by Jodie for Autumn availability.
  3. Get back to nature This month is superb for birdwatching, particularly for Autumn migration along the Cley Marshes as winter birds return and migratory species pass through, stopping to feed. Of course, it's still a great time for seal-spotting, as well, just before grey seal pupping season. Temple boats continue their round- trips to Blakeney Point throughout the fall.
  4. Cycle September is when one can cycle down the A149 without the fear of causing a jam at Stiffkey. We like Black Bikes for their wide selection to suit the whole family- guided tours and delivery service are also available. Quieter roads make for safer rides, too, so hop on yer bike and go roaming.
  5. Shop Build your Autumn wardrobe and get a head start on Christmas shopping. Head to Holt this month for seasonal drops, cosy knitwear and covetable homewares that will make you long for nights by a crackling fire. We love The Scented Barn run by the beautiful Hannah for Norfolk-inspired candles and assorted home decor. PLUS It's the (un)official start of boot season. Yippee! Suede dreams and fall fashion begin at our favourite Rural-Vogue brand, Fairfax & Favor. We cannot forget those unique pop-ups, too, for something a little different. (Ahem!)
  6. BONUS! It's HOODIE season! Ok, so it's always hoodie weather in Norfolk (IYKYK) but we know a brand with some perfect Norfolk coastal wear ideal for breezy beach strolls and wooded walks. Opt for our Signature Classic or slouch hoodies in Norfolk inspired colours
