Our essential packing guide for the perfect Norfolk holiday

Our essential packing guide for the perfect Norfolk holiday

Those precious months bookending the summer solstice when the sun reaches its apex in the sky, our beautiful Norfolk coast gives the Mediterranean a real run for its money. Still, any regular visitor knows to expect the unexpected and that means packing for all seasons.

Prep for all forecasts with this handy guide.

  1. light rain coat Functional outwear is a must for any Norfolk summer, but it doesn't have to be bulky. We like a waxed Barbour taking us from a brisk coastal walk from Blakeney to the Dun Cow. Gun Hill has a great selection of seasonal jackets for men and women, and a local brand, to boot.
  2. Wetsuit or long sleeve one-piece With cold-water swimming fast becoming a year-round phenomenon in Norfolk, a slick one-piece can be a great investment. Finisterre and Helly Hansen have a selection that boast both style and substance for those North Sea dips.
  3. Hiking boots Whilst wellies will never go amiss, Norfolk was made for wanderers and we would treat your feet to some comfy walking shoes or hiking boots. Have a look at Morston Country Sports for a wide selection of Merrell walking boots and shoes.
  4. Smart blazer Just because most of the holiday is spent mucking in mud, doesn't mean we can't dress-up. Channel rural-chic with Fairfax & Favor's range of tailored blazers - perfect for a night out Morston Hall, Gunton Arms or any one of Norfolk's fine eateries.
  5. spotted-seal cotton cap Don't be fooled by the variable weather, when the sun shines, it shines bright. Stay in the shade and turn heads sporting our vintage wash, spotted-seal cotton cap.
  6. BONUS ENTRY spotted-seal hoodie Well, duh. Be it our signature slouch or classic, either take you effortlessly from the shingled shores of Sheringham to a post-beach slice of the finest pizza at Stubby's in cool, comfortable style. Pack them for Norfolk, wear anywhere that feels home.
